There's more to it than simply making a website and getting traffic to it. Have a strategy.
1 Build your list. Have an opt in page or pages where people who reach your site can give you their email addresses for something of value to them. Why build a list? People need to see your offer about 7 times or more before they make up their minds to buy your product. So, send them emails regularly, some with your offers and some with related information, and that also have your site address and with a link to your offer.
2 Make it easy for them to pay you. Paypal can even be used to let them pay on your site. Paypal also allows payment with credit card, or you might want a separate system to do that, and the choice to pay by debit card.
3 Make it easy for them to download your product. That is, allow them to get your product straight away after they have paid you. Also allow them to download later if they want to as they might pay you using one device but then download it to another device.
4 When your payment and download organization is fast and easy to use, they will more than likely return for further products from you.
These 4 are the basis of your strategy, each of them being of equal importance.

Writing Articles - Do This
Your content, including articles, can generate traffic that is responsive to what you have to say and offer them to help them in your niche.
1 Do 2 basic things. First your level of writing needs to be accessible to a broad swathe of prospects. Second, use niche keywords that people in that niche use and search for.
2 Keep your content organized. Keep paragraphs short and to the point. To help this, use headings. Also keep your sentences of a reasonable length. Imagine you're a reader and you want to understand the contents quickly, as most readers do online, by dividing it into chunks you help them do that. You do not need to write at great length: keep to around 800 words maximum.
3 Have you ever read a really impactful headline in a newspaper? It brings the person into the story or information, making them want to know more. Aim to do this with your titles. For example, use questions or be contentious. Get their view to shift, almost without thought, from the title to your beginning paragraph. Of course, the title still has to have a relation to what the article is about. Avoid just asking an outrageous question in your title with no relation to the article content. This will only cause irritation, and people will remember your article negatively.

Website Traffic - Getting More Of It
If you have your website set up you may have realized quickly enough that if you can't get enough traffic to it, then it has little value as a business property.
1 It's obvious you have to promote your site in some way. You should be building your list, so the quickest and easiest way to do that promotion is through your own emails. You can use the content of individual emails, with a link, or have a link permanently placed in the signature section.
2 Use ads where it fits your business and marketing plan. You can place banners on other sites where you have found your prospects go online to get information on topics you sell products about. Use search engines to find these types of site. Obviously, any charges for placing your ads will have to fit into your budget.
3 Referrals are a great way to get traffic. For example, from other experts in your niche. In fact anyone who people will accept as having some related authority in your niche can be a valuable source of traffic from their site to yours. For instance, you ask them to put a link in their emails or to let people they know who can use what you have to offer.
People often forget just how big the internet is. It is vast. So you have to find those places and people interested in, and can use, what you sell, then promote it any way you find works for you and your business.

Search Engines - Search Engine Optimized Site
Have you just got your website onto the web? Are you waiting for traffic? It might be a long wait if you're not optimizing your pages for the search engines.
You're not only after traffic but also visitors who will become customers, paying you for your products. To do that use the right keywords for your website topic.
Your keywords will get you more buyers, as well as more clicks and return visitors to your site. You want keywords that will attract and keep people's attention. In your page titles, use attractive language that gets the visitor's interest, and holds it because of the relevance to the topic they've searched for.
Also, have a domain name to back up your site's topic. Put keywords in your page title, links to other pages, and related ones in your page text. Avoid simply repeating your main keyword but use synonyms. This way you should have better rankings in the search results.
Simply having a site does not mean you will get traffic to it. Think of your own actions online when searching. You go to those sites that get your attention through their keywords promising to have just what you're looking for. So use your topic's keywords to get your targeted audience's attention and keep it when they arrive at your site.

RSS - Useful In Your Business?
If you're using RSS feeds to publish content on your site, you need information that is about the same topic as your site. To do that, check out feedster.com. Or search for feeds about the same topic. Or find sites that are dealing with the same topic as yours, or related topics, and click on their orange RSS link. Put the RSS URL from there into your own feed.
Only get feeds about your topic, or near-topics if they fit what you're doing. What you do not want is that when a search engine updates its index with information on your site, that the information is irrelevant to your site. That way you'll only get visitors who like the look of the feed but have no interest in your topic. That is, they're totally unqualified.
RSS for mobile marketing is easy now, so it's possible to be passing on a mass of your niche information to a much larger base of interested people. What you're after is having as many ways as possible for people to meet your content, including feeds. This is the opposite of aiming to publish exactly the same content on lots of different sites.
You're developing your online presence. You can combine publishing your own new content on your site very regularly, with site feeds information showing on your site. Thus search engines will visit you more, and you get direct traffic from feed readers.

RSS - Your Simple Explanation
Crawler bots are sent out by search engines across the web to collect information as to what new has been done. They collect it on their servers. Someone does a search which is related to what the crawler has collected. The searcher is shown a list of search results related to that they entered in their search. Those sites shown in the results have been indexed by the search engine.
Here's an example. Google sends a crawler to your website and collects most of the information on there, so that information is indexed. Nevertheless, the crawler will not necessarily get all the information from your site. It decides how regularly to visit your site by how often you publish new posts and so on. For instance, putting new information on your home page means it will visit the site more frequently.
Sometimes you get stuck and can't publish new stuff. You could use RSS at those times. Feeds will collect information from other sites and place it on yours, so you have a constant flow into your site. Becasue of this crawlers will want to collect your new information, maintaining its indexing, and search results showing your site for specific search terms on your site.

Domain Name - Choose It With Care
Many names that people starting off with a website would like to use, are now taken. They're already paid for and being used or are parked.
Choose your name and then check if you can get it. Put it into your browser and if a website comes up, then it's gone, and you'll have to choose a different domain name. Another way is to go to somewhere such as NameCheap.com where you can try one name after another, including any variations you might want to use if you can't use your first choice.
Having found a name not being used, then pay for it. You can use a place such as NameCheap. Or if you want to buy it outright as your own, check it out on registrar websites or auctions on auction sites such as Ebay. However, take care doing it this way. For example, if the seller is saying the name has been making money on a site, ask for evidence of the revenue of that site.
If all is ok, then you have your domain name that should be memorable and short as possible. Now you need to send to traffic to it once you have your site set up with it. A domain name can be vital to your business on that site succeeding.
