It's no great mystery as to why the advice is always to start growing your list straight away. Why is this? Without a list, you might get people to visit your site but then they leave and you never see them again.

Second, get an autoresponder service that you pay for monthly. Don't try to run one yourself.
Third, create a sign up page with the benefits of your freebie, and a form you get from your autoresponder.
Fourth, generate traffic to the page.
Fifth, create and email sequence. Use the tracking from your autoresponder to see which emails are working best or not. Each week change the email that works the worst. This will build an effective sequence over time.
